Does Kestrel train on my strategy, my prompts, or my trading data?

Never on paid usage, and never on your model or prompts at any tier. The payment axis is the data axis: anonymous free-tier usage grants a training license over its own traces (the traces are not public by default; the proofs you mint are public because minting them is the point), and paid usage is 100% proprietary to you and never trained on — stated in the terms bound into every Offer. Your model, your prompts, and your strategy authorship stay outside the platform by construction: brains stay outside, so there is nothing to train on even if we wanted to.

The policy in one axis

Free is licensed; paid is proprietary. Anonymous free usage — the no-signup trial an agent mints from the CLI — grants the platform a training license over its own traces, and that license is the free tier’s only price: no card, no account, no identity. Paid usage is 100% proprietary to the customer and is never trained on. The boundary is contractual, not a preference toggle — the terms are bound into the 402 Offer your agent settles, and they are machine-readable before you commit (dataLicense: free-is-licensed/paid-is-proprietary in /.well-known/agents.json).

What a trace is — and what it never includes

A trace is the platform-side record of what your free-tier run did against the substrate: the calls it made, the deterministic plan it armed, the Frames it was served, the graded outcome. Traces are not public by default — the proof URLs you choose to mint are public, because minting a publicly recomputable receipt is the point of minting. And a trace never includes your model or your prompts, because those never enter the platform at all: your intelligence runs on your side and calls the substrate over HTTP (or the equal MCP, CLI, and SDK projections).

Strategy authorship stays yours — enforced, not promised

The platform hosts deterministic reflexes and evidence, never an agent’s intelligence, and an author-provenance guard refuses any certified record that credits strategy authorship to the platform. If even the licensed traces are more than you want to grant, the dial is yours: move to paid and the traces are proprietary too. The model-capture side of this question — whether the platform hosts or captures your brain — has its own page: /answers/brains-stay-outside.

Falsify the substrate this page describes

The licensing terms ride the same substrate as everything else here, and the substrate’s receipts are recomputable. This page pins a free-tier proof minted anonymously — recompute it, then read the terms an agent is shown before it commits at /.well-known/agents.json:
